About Peter Hubbard
Why is Peter Hubbard the most qualified candidate for PSC?
In 2019, Peter Hubbard channeled his energy and professional experience to found the nonprofit Georgia Center for Energy Solutions (www.Georgia-CES.org) to fight for clean energy and lower power bills before the Public Service Commission. He has given expert testimony in four integrated resource plans. Peter has been doing the work for six years—without pay—because he is driven by justice, equity, and accountability.
Peter Hubbard prepared a sophisticated alternative Integrated Resource Plan for Georgia that prioritizes lowering power bills through smart investments in low-cost and reliable solar, wind, storage, virtual power plants, energy efficiency, and sharing capacity resources with neighboring electric utilities.
About
Peter Hubbard graduated from Cleveland High School in Tennessee, went to the University of Memphis to earn a B.S. each in mathematics and in physics, then went to Johns Hopkins University to earn an M.A. in economics.
Peter Hubbard has lived in the neighborhood of Edgewood in Atlanta since 2015. He is married to an amazing woman with whom he has two awesome kiddos, currently three and nine years old.
What are Peter Hubbard’s professional experiences that make him an energy expert?
After graduate school, where he specialized in energy, Peter Hubbard worked 2 years to promote exports of energy technology made by U.S. companies (USTDA). He then worked for 10 years as a consultant at Siemens Energy Business Advisory and AFRY Management Consulting running electricity models, gas models, preparing integrated resource plans for electric utilities, advising executives, supporting M&A financial and technological due diligence, and more. Today, Peter works to develop solar and storage projects mostly in states like Texas and Louisiana. Peter Hubbard has provided expert witness testimony in each of the last four Georgia Power Company Integrated Resource Plans as well as supported IRPs in Puerto Rico, Indiana, New Mexico, Florida, Tennessee, and more.
